The most important tumbling skill used in cheerleading and gymnastics

A Round Off is the most important skill in tumbling used in cheerleading and gymnastics.  Many people believe that a Round Off is just a basic skill and once you learn it you can move on to the next skill and that you do not need to keep practicing it, but that is far from the truth.  Round Offs need constant perfecting and need to be incorporated in all tumbling drills used in cheerleading and gymnastics, no matter how advanced an athlete may be.
The reason why a Round Off is so important, is that it is the approach to all running tumbling used in cheerleading and gymnastics.  As the first skill connecting to a Back Handspring or Back Tuck, the Round Off determines the outcome of the next skill.  If a Round Off has errors, you can expect that any tumbling skill connected after it will have even more errors.
Errors in a Round Off can hold an athlete back from progressing to other tumbling skills used in cheerleading and gymnastics.  Some common errors in Round Offs are landing it with your feet apart, or leaning too far to the left or right.  Landing with a forward angle before a Back Handspring or landing with an angle that is leaning too far back for a Back Tuck are other common errors in tumbling used in cheerleading and gymnastics.  Having a lunge that is not long enough or not having arms covering your ears the entire time are also common mistakes in Round Offs.
Since a Round Off is the most important skill for tumbling used in cheerleading and gymnastics, it is very important to correct any errors as soon as possible so they do not become bad habits.  If you would like more details about the importance of Round Offs, visit http://tumblingcoach.com/blog/
